That Stop Making Sense clip inspired me to post another video from a great Talking Heads movie.
John Goodman singing “People Like Us” at “The Celebration of Special-ness” during the climax of True Stories is possibly the most endearing thing ever set to film. At no point does he look entirely comfortable singing, and that only makes me love it more.
Oh, and the way Byrne shoots that ridiculous stage in the middle of the huge Texas expanse of nothing deserves a post of its own. I’ve always suspected that Wes Anderson saw this movie at some formative moment and took extensive notes.
